Bathing a Persian Cat
The main objective in bathing a Persian Cat is to degrease the coat, you want to get all the oil and grease out of the coat, so that once you blow dry the cat you are left with a coat that is greaseless, clean and every hair is separated and flowing.
Here is what you need:
- Goop - a hand de-greaser located in the automotive section of Walmart (USA only)
- Dish Soap
- Cat shampoo & conditioner
- Towels
- Face cloth
- Metal comb
- Face scissors
- Hi-velocity drier – professional grooming dryer, not a household hair drier
- Extra set of hands when blow drying
Step 1. Cut their nails
Step 2. While the cat is dry apply Goop around the ears, legs and tail, all the areas that tend to be greasy
Step 3. Rinse the cat in warm water, wet the face cloth, wring it out, clean the cats face and in its ears. Once the cat has been rinsed, rinse again, you can’t rinse enough
Step 4. Apply dish soap lath and rinse, then rinse again
Step 5. Apply mild pet shampoo and rinse, rinse, rinse
Step 6. Towel dry
Step 7. Blow dry
Step 8. Trim around the eyes and the ears and pluck the cheeks.
Helpful hints when blow drying
Have your helper aim the dryer where you combing. Using the metal comb start by combing the hair out and then start the dryer once the hair is untangled. Aim the blow dryer where you are combing. Begin with the stomach to avoid coat curl, then through the entire coat until the entire cat is dry.
Helpful hints for Trimming your cats face
Trim the hair around the edge of the ears to give them a rounded appearance. Use your hands to gently break the edges of the hair around the cats face. Always try to create a rounded appearance.
