We Won Best Kitten

We won best Kitten

Congratulations to Midwest Persian Tabby Fanciers for a great show this past weekend! The show was held at the Wayne Ford Civic League Centre in Westland Michigan just outside of Detroit Michigan. The show hall was a good size with lots of space, not to mention the carpet was very nice on the feet!

The judges were great and the food was good too. The line up was 4 rings on Saturday and 4 rings on Sunday. I entered 3 kittens, Startrax She's All That, Startrax Moody Blue and Startrax It's About Time.

On Saturday the judges were Bob Bryan, Loretta Baugh, Gene Darrah and Ellyn Honey. The first ring of the day was in judge Loretta Baugh's ring. In this ring Startrax Moody Blue took Best of Breed and Startrax It's about time took 2nd Best of Breed. The next ring was judge was Ellyn Honey and Startrax It's About Time was awarded the 2nd Best of Breed. The third ring of the day was in judge Bob Bryan's ring and Startrax Moody Blue was awarded Best of Breed and Startrax It's About Time was awarded second Best of Breed. In Bob Bryan's final Startax Moody Blue was awared BEST KITTEN! Thank you Bob for this incredible honour! The fourth ring of the day was with judge Gene Darrah and in his ring Startrax Moody Blue was awarded second Best of Breed.

On Sunday the first ring was in judge Doug Myer's ring and Startax It's about Time was awarded Best of Breed! The 3rd ring was in judge Racheal Anger's ring and Startrax It's About Time was awarded second Best of Breed. The last ring of the day was in judge Liz Watson and Startrax She's All That was awarded second Best of Breed.

Midwest Persian Tabby Fanciers, Westland MI

January 27-28 in WESTLAND, Michigan.

I will be taking my 3 persian kittens to the Wayneford Civic League on 1645 N Wayne Road. The show is being put on by the Midwest Persian Tabby Fanciers. I have been to this show in the past years and they always put on a great show. The show hall has lots of natural light and it is 8 rings! In the past we have had to trudge through 3 feet of snow and other years have been sunny and dry. It looks like snow on Saturday but mild temperatures. I am really looking forward to seeing all of the familiar faces as I haven't been to a show since the Golden Triangle show in Kitchener, Ontario last May! I look forward to posting the results of the show weekend as soon as I am back. If you are close by come to the show and look for the kittens! There will be lots of other persian cats and kittens for you see and they always have good vendors for shopping.

Erie, PA. April 29-30th, 2006 - CFA Cat Show

Judge

The show was held at the JMC Ice Arena. This show hall was filled with lots of vendors and a lot of spectators on both Saturday and Sunday. The weather was nice and even that didn't stop the cat lovers from attending the show!

The area is really beautiful and very green this time of year with many trees in bloom. The shopping is to die for! My car is full!

Startrax Miss Suzzie did not make any finals this weekend so we may put her into the breeding program.

This is Revillion Frank Sinatra's first show as a champion so we came her hoping for some grand points. Unfortunately we didn't make any finals.

Sweetie was up against 2 other grand champions. By the end of the weekend Sweetie hadn't made any finals!! She enjoyed herself.

Overall, this show had very tough competition, so it was hard to stay positive. I have learnt to be happy with the beauty of the cats and that is enough. The last show of the show season is really put on for the campaigners and it is unfortunate, but for those not running a cat have to just take a back seat. I know, that sounds less than fair, but that is the way it is. Lets hope that the new show season bring better things for CFA.

New Hartford, NY. April 8th, 2006 - CFA Cat Show

Sweets playing in her show cage

The show was held at the Alfredo's Banquet and Conference Center. This show hall was a tight squeeze! Half of the judge's rings were in one section of the hall and the others through a hallway to another room. The nice thing about this show was that it was a one-day show.

Startrax Miss Suzie did not make any finals this weekend however she did take a few best champion ribbons. The Persian parti-color champions were tough competitors.

Franks is now a champion! I can't wait to get him out to try to grand him!

Sweetie was up against 5 other grands. She took the breed in Kim Everett's ring and made her final. The other judges did not give her the breed. That was a bit of a let down however, we were happy with the one final considering the competition.

I haven't decided if I will run Sweetie for a regional win next show season, but for now I am enjoying showing her.

Mansfield, OH. April 1st-2nd, 2006 - CFA Cat Show

Franks in show cage

The show was held at the Richland County Fairgrounds in the Fairhaven Hall. This show hall was very spacious and that always makes it better for the exhibitors and the spectators.

Unfortunately, Miss Suzie did not make any finals this weekend so we will try again next week.

Franks made one final in Brian Pearson's ring. There were a lot of national runners at this show so there really wasn't a lot of room for Franks! It was a great win to make the one final.

Sweetie was up against 5 other grand champions. By the end of the weekend Sweetie made 5 out of the 6 finals!! She had a great show.

It was disappointing that Suzie didn't do better but, she is very young and she has lots of growing to do. The competition amongst the Persian cats is very tough!

March 26, 2006

Mount Clemens, MI. March 25-26th, 2006 - CFA Cat Show

The show was held at the Girbalter Trade Center. The show hall was huge with lots going on. In the same building was a Bridal show and a flea market! There were lots of spectators. I especially liked the Elvis impersonator who was singing from beyond the curtains. I'm not sure I would hire him to sing at my wedding, however it made the day more interesting.

I went into this show hoping to grand Startrax Miss Suzie. We did not make any finals but we did have to fight for the purple ribbon. We won that in 5 out of 8 rings giving us 10 grand points - 190 to go!

Revillion Frank Sinatra of Startax made a few finals and he had a good time at the show. As usual the spectators were in awe of him. He was the only white Persian entered in the show.

Revillion Sweetie of Startrax was up against 2 other grand champions. We took the best of breed in one of the rings! By the end of the weekend Sweetie made 3 finals.

Overall, we have had better shows, but we will be back at it next week hoping to do better.

March 19, 2006

Monroeville, PA. March 18-19th, 2006 - CFA Cat Show

Expo Centre

Show Hall - Expo Centre. The show hall was nice and very roomy. There were lots of exhibitors and breeders with plenty of good raffle prizes to be won. Western Pennsylvania Cat Fanciers even had an agility contest going on. Overall. it was a great show with lots to do for both spectators and for the exhibitors. Congratulations WPCF for a great show!

I went into this show with two missions: Grand Revillion Sweetie of Startrax and get winners ribbons on Startrax Miss Suzzie. Thankfully we did both!

Miss Suzzie was the first to be put up in the ring and as I opened the catalogue I noticed that she was going to have to beat 2 other opens in order to get her winners ribbons! Luckily in the first 3 rings she did exactly that. Going into Sunday we need 2 more but, I knew it wasn't going to be easy to do. Sunday morning I put Suzzie in the ring and I noticed that the other 2 torties had gone home so Suzzie got all 4 winners ribbons. Suzzie is now a champion. And now we are trying to grand. It is not going to be easy with the depth in the Persian cats!

Roger Lawrence

Sweetie took the purple best Champion in every ring on Saturday over 2 other bi-color champions! She made 3 out of the 4 finals and became a new Grand!!! Unfortunately there were other bi-color exhibitors that were not happy for me. I was told to pull my cat after the first 2 rings because they were sure that I had enough points that I had already granded. This is an example of how not to be towards other compeititors. I am proud of my cat and I wanted to show her on Saturday and be able to transfer to grand on the Sunday and see how she would do as a Grand Champion. That is what competition is all about. Because I didn't pull my cat I was verbally attacked and sworn at by another breeder. This kind of behaviour is not something that I nor Cat Fanciers Association endorses. The more breeders that we have acting like that the less exibitors the CFA will have.

On Sunday Sweetie held her own as a new gand, she even made 3rd best cat in judge Kitty Angel's ring. Sweetie did very well despite all of the abuse that I had to take.

Frank Sinatra was a gorgeous as ever but there was incredible competition in the solid kitten class. Unfortunately he did not make any finals this weekend but, he held his own by taking the odd second best of breed.

Thanks again Western Pennsylvania Cat fanciers - the show was great - see you again next year.

March 12, 2006

Oneida, NY. March 11-12th, 2006 - CFA Cat Show

Kallet Theatre

Show Hall - Kallet Civic Center, Built in 1937 by Myron Kallet as the "ultra modern" theater on Main Street, becoming central New York's "showcase" for screen entertainment and re-discovered as an example of Art Moderne architecture, a turned curving style popular during the 1930s and 40s.

I was hoping for better odds being an 8-ring show (7AB, 1 SP) and closer than Ohio, which was a 6-ring one-day show, not to mention the Casino was 5 minutes away and I can't resist trying my luck playing a few hands of Blackjack.

I came to the show with 128 grand points on Revillion Sweets for the Sweet of Startax and hoping to Grand this weekend. On Saturday we got 22 grand points and awarded third Best Long Hair Champion in show from judge Gene Darrah. So coming into Sunday Sweetie needed 50 points to Grand. In the second last ring of the day we where awarded the Best Champion ribbon in the class by judge Wayne Trevathan. I was really excited when her number was called for the final, in Wayne's ring Sweetie was awarded second best long hair champion in show, giving her 164 points, just 26 points to go! In the last ring of the day judge Walter Hustler gave Sweetie the best Champion ribbon over 6 other bicolors! Walter did not call Sweetie back to his final but, we did get 6 points. That gives Sweetie 180 points! We only need 20 points to grand!

Judge

Revillion Frank Sanatra of Startrax. On the Saturday Franks made 10th best kitten by Gene Darrah, and best kitten in show in Ed Davis's ring. I certainly didn't expect that result walking to the ring; I was so pleased with the outcome. There was a photographer from a the local paper there insisting on taking Franks picture so I am sure he will be a celebrity come Monday morning. On Sunday judge Ken Currle made Franks 4th best kitten in show! Franks was well rested and was an absolute clown in all of the judges rings. He was definitely a source of entertainment for the crowd.

Startrax Tiramisuzzie. She was awarded fourth best Kitten in Gene Darrah's ring and sixth best Kitten in Ed Davis's ring. Imagine my excitement when both my kittens are called for two finals, This was Miss Suzie's last show as a kitten.

Not a bad show. Plus I ended up only a few dollars down after my two nights of gambling. The Turning Stone Casino seemed to be very tight with both the slots and the tables but, overall the hotel was nice and the customer service was excellent.

Next week we will be in Pittsburg hoping to get those last 20 points for Sweetie. Miss Suzie will hopefully get her 6 winners ribbons to become a champion. As for Franks, he is still a kitten and we hope to have another great show as he is so beautiful and he just loves the shows. Every week when I bath him I notice that he has grown more coat and matured that much more.
